The Boys Lacrosse Team is off to a good start, sitting on a 7-4 record and currently holding a playoff spot.

“This team is building off the success of last year’s,” said Coach Zachary Alexander. “The seniors did a great job leading the team last year and the seniors this year are continuing to hold everyone to a high standard.”

The team faced a tough blow early in the season when they lost veteran Jose De Jesus Sanchez ‘25 to an arm sprain. His absence hit the team hard, as they dropped two consecutive games. But after starting off 2-3, the team showed resilience and won five of their next six, including a 13-2 demolition of James Madison in the Battle of Bedford on April 1.

Spencer Spallone ‘26 was a key contributor with five goals and three assists in the game. “It felt great and it really helped our team gain some confidence,” he said.

Sanchez’s return on April 21 helped the team take down Tottenville for the first time in 11 years by a 10-7 score on April 25, after losing to them earlier in the season as well as in last year’s playoffs.

“The win against Tottenville reflected the hard work and dedication of the team,” said Benjamin Weiss ‘25, the team’s goalie, who has 83 saves so far this season. “I’m proud of the way the guys have overcome adversity and stuck with the team.”

A lot of our drive has come from the hunger to be in the championship again and replicate our past success,” Sanchez said. “As the season progresses, the team is demonstrating that even without the same star power as the previous season, our grit, work ethic, and passion are more than enough to fuel a championship-caliber team.”
